Dimple is ecstatic when her parents actually agree to let her attend Insomnia Con (a six week competition for freshly graduated high school students to develop and code an app) the summer before she heads off to college. Unfortunately, her traditional Indian parents had an ulterior motive when sending her off; their good friends are also sending their son to Insomnia Con (Rishi) and they’re all thinking arranged marriage. Rishi has been briefed and is on board with the plan, which makes for an uncomfortable and volatile first meeting. As Dimple gets to know Rishi though (because of course he requested they be partners) she starts to think that maybe a relationship with him wouldn’t be so terrible (as long as marriage is not a part of the equation).

When Dimple Met Rishi is a fun and lighthearted. It might be a summer romance, but it’s also about dreams, family, culture, friendship, and comics. Although, despite being at a camp specifically for programmers it’s quite light on any actual computer or coding (or app planning) conversations.
